Global Health Now and in the Future

January 19, 2021 at noon

You are invited to this Zoom presentation of a talk by Dr. Keith Martin, who has served as the founding Executive Director of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) since September 2012.

Dr. Martin will describe the work of CUGH and Canadian contributions to this important work.

Join Canadian Club of Victoria members and friends for this talk on Zoom about this rapidly growing organization based in Washington, DC.  CUGH was established in 2008 with generous funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and The Rockefeller Foundation. Its mission is to support academic institutions and partners, to improve the wellbeing of people and the planet, all through education, research, service and advocacy.

Dr. Martin is well known as a former MP for the western parts of Victoria from 1991 to 2011. He is a member of the Privy Council.  His humanitarian and diplomatic work have taken him on missions in crisis areas around the world – particularly across Africa, where he has worked as a physician on the Mozambique border during their civil war. He is an ardent conservationist with a passion for tracking and photographing big game and is working to stop the slaughter of rhinos and elephants, and the illegal wildlife trade.

Speaking from his residence in the American capital, he will also give us his assessment of the currently unprecedented political situation unfolding in Washington DC.

This will be a Zoom presentation
